					Assessment is a word much bandied about in higher education these days, but often misunderstood. In its virtually limitless variety, we believe assessment offers an exciting set of tools for helping faculty and institutions of higher education enhance the learning they value for students and their ability to promote it. This workshop offers practical guidance on how to 1) articulate the learning we value for students as clearly as possible; 2) design assignments, projects, and tests that capture that learning; 3) use patterns of actual student performance to improve instruction. The focus of the workshop can be the individual course, a program such as general education or the major, or both, depending on your needs.
